A smaller, four-cell strip featuring Charlie Brown and Snoopy, who is pretending to be an alligator, sold in the UK recently.

Signed and inscribed at left by Schulz and numbered ‘2/28’, it sold at £13,000 in a May 17 sale held in Oxford by Mallams (20% buyer’s premium).

Schulz, born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1922, launched his comic strip Peanuts in 1950. Over the years it would run in more than 2000 newspapers.
