1. This 19½ x 15in (50 x 38cm) view of the Yesnaby Cliffs tipped over top estimate at Bamfords, Derbyshire, on June 6. It was painted by local artist Ian MacInnes (1922-2003) whose work attracts a modest following on the secondary market.

2. Her output was relatively small, but Mary Newberry Sturrock (1890-1985) was an influential artist known for her skilled pen and ink and pencil drawings.

This 10 x 5in (25 x 13cm) pen and ink drawing with a paper label for The Fine Art Society, sold just below bottom estimate at McTear’s, Glasgow, on June 6.

3. Presented to the vendor’s ancestor in payment of a bill, this 9½ x 19in (24 x 49cm) watercolour by Punch illustrator Arthur George Watts (1883-1935) took a multi-estimate £720 at Sworders of Essex on June 5. The work is similar to another that sold for $2100 at Illustration House, New York, in 2000.
