Artcurial’s May 16 design sale in Paris had a plentiful supply of works by both designers. Pictured here is the piece that made the top lot of the day – Perriand’s ‘Nuage’ bookcase in teak and brushed and black lacquered aluminium.
The bookcase was a special commission of 1960 acquired by the vendor at that time from the Magasin Pilote in Marseille.
The object of a 15 minute bidding battle between the room, the phones and online bidders, it sold for a multi-estimate €550,000 (£482,455), the second highest price for a work by Perriand at auction.
