This 11½in (29.5cm) high piece, numbered 59 of 99, is a highlight of George Kidner’s sale in Lymington, Hampshire, on June 21.

On June 23, Maidenhead saleroom Dawson’s will offer a late 18th century ormolu mounted mahogany corner cabinet by leading French cabinet-maker Jean Henri Riesener (1734-1806).

The 3ft x 2ft (92 x 61cm) piece, which is stamped JH Riesener, is surmounted by a veined white marble top and cast ormolu acanthus leaf mounts.

Estimate £8000-12,000.

A first-edition copy of Charles Darwin’s influential work, On the Origin of Species, will feature in Thomson Roddick’s June 27 sale of antiquarian and collectable books in Carlisle.

Just 1250 copies of this first edition were published, of which only 1170 went on sale and were sold out almost immediately.

Consigned from a local private source, this copy is estimated at £10,000-20,000.
