Freeman’s varied Asian Arts auction on March 16 includes a group of Korean ceramics from a private Florida collection.
It features buncheong stonewares, blue and white porcelains and celadons such as this 12th century floriform bowl (estimate $1000-1500) above, incised and inlaid with the auspicious motif of boys and lotus, signifying wishes for a multitude of descendants.
Also on March 16 is the Asian works of art sale at Skinner in Boston.
The Song dynasty qingbai or (bluish-white ware) lobed dish pictured above has a distinguished provenance, having been exhibited at the Oriental Ceramic Society in London, as well as at Eskenazi, London.
At Doyle New York on March 19 it carries an estimate of $6000-8000.
