Among those who settled in the French capital were Italian artists, some of whom adopted prevailing styles while others struck out in new directions all their own.
A new exhibition at the Parisian branch of Italian gallery Maurizio Nobile, Les Italiens à Paris de Boldini à Severini (1870-1930), puts the focus on these painters. It runs from March 22-April 21 at the gallery on rue de Penthièvre.
Among those featured are the Impressionist painter Federico Zandomeneghi (1841-1917), a friend of Edgar Degas, as well as the fashionable portraitist Giovanni Boldini (1842-1931), who was the commissioner of the Italian section of the Paris Exposition in 1889. Later, the artist Gino Severini (1883-1966), also included, became a leading member of Futurism.
Works are priced from €450,000-1.2m.
