Police are investigating the theft of a neoclassical black basalt lamp base priced at £250 from the Lyndhurst Antique Centre.

The incident occurred on April 17 at around 2.35pm. CCTV images have been issued of a man and a woman whom police would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

Following the theft, centre owner Janine Stone published a post on the centre’s Facebook page with details, CCTV pictures and an appeal for information on the couple.

She received replies from other traders in Derbyshire, Northamptonshire and Dorset who said they had suffered similar thefts.

However, police have not officially linked the series of incidents.
