Estimated at £2000-3000, it brought four phone bidders into a battle which ended with victory for a buyer in the room against an Italian underbidder on the phone with a bid of £10,800.

At that price, it was the second highest of the April 25 sale, beaten to top spot by a c.1975 Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Paul Newman stainless steel watch in its original box. Against competition on the phones, it went to a Hong Kong bidder in the rooms at £38,000 – setting a house record for the Essex saleroom.
