The Lighter Club of Great Britain runs a small annual vintage lighter show in Hertfordshire at the Ramada Hatfield Hotel, with this year’s event taking place on Sunday, October 14.

Club chairman Peter Brooks said: “The lighters there will be petrol fuelled and date from 1910 to c.1950, when gas lighters superseded petrol models.

“Prices range from £5 to several thousands. They will include lighters incorporating watches, those with unusual mechanisms and solid silver and gold models. Examples manufactured by Cartier, Dunhill, Bach & Cooper, Colibri, Ronson, Lancel and many others will be on sale and members sell and swap lighters as well as exchanging tips on repairs and patents.”
