However, a welcome addition is the very contemporary work of Swedish ceramicist Gunilla Maria Åkesson (b.1963), whom he has represented since first showing her pieces at the New York International Fine Art & Antiques Dealers Fair in 2014.

Haughton says it was the quality of Åkesson’s porcelain, made using Australian ‘southern ice clay’ that has a translucent quality, which first drew his connoisseur’s eye.

Åkesson was on the shortlist for the Loewe Crafts Prize and will no doubt win further admirers with the White Gold catalogue. It includes examples of her white cylinders from £3000-5000 and her Open Forms at £5000.
