In 2019, instead of six two-day midweek fairs, the organiser will run four one-day midweek events.
Crucially, these will run on a Wednesday, one day ahead of IACF’s two-day antiques and collectors’ fairs at the Newark Showground, thus giving buyers a straight run of three full days at both fairs.
Swallow Fairs director Richard Burgoin said: “By reducing the number of days that the fair is run I can reduce overheads and cut stall and marquee prices by a third.”
Reduced stand rates
In 2019, at the antiques and home fair a 10ft x 20ft marquee is down from £336 to £260 and a 6ft indoor table in the Epic Centre is reduced by £60 to £90.
“For buyers and the trade, particularly from overseas, by holding the Lincoln fair one day before Newark they can reduce their expenses,” added the organiser.
“Our current Monday and Tuesday format means this is a week-long trip to cover both fairs. The new format means that our stallholders can get into the showground from the Tuesday afternoon ready for the 7am opening on Wednesday instead of an exhausting 5am start on Monday.”
Next summer Swallow is running at the Lincoln Showground what is likely to be a popular event with the public: a weekend fair on August 10-11 which will also break up the organiser’s gap in the year between fairs at the venue.
The four Wednesday dates next year for the antiques and home fair are April 3, May 29, October 9 and December 4.
The remaining date for the fair this year is on Monday-Tuesday, December 3-4.
