The autumn event is on Friday to Saturday, September 28-29, and the organisers claim this is the largest antiques fair in the UK.

It launched in 1999 with 550 stands – but now with 1200 exhibitors in the five indoor buildings plus 50 large marquees as well as four outdoor areas, this can be a marathon buying trip.

Festival manager Kris Hart, who has been with the company since its launch, said: “High-end antiques and art people should head to the exhibition hall and the Cambridge Suite. The rest is evenly dispersed over a wide area.”

He added: “We now find that the 20,000 visitors over the two days are evenly split between the Friday and Saturday, so more people are taking the Friday off to come to the festival.”
