Although Tunbridge ware was produced as early as the late 17th century, the prime period for enthusiasts is generally reckoned to be c.1830-1900.

The workbox, with a velvet-lined fitted interior containing bobbins, cotton reels and a stamp box, was early Victorian and of exceptional quality and condition.

Estimated at £2000-3000, it sold to a collector at £6500.
