Back in 2007 mid-century and vintage furniture dealer Moses Otunia launched his annual two-day Modern Movement Design Fair at the Grade II-listed Brockwell Lido in Herne Hill, south London.

Opened in 1937 and built by the London County Council in the Art Deco style, the lido extolled the virtues of “continental beach life” in the city.

The next fair running is on Saturday and Sunday, May 4-5. Otunia said: “We’re looking at 30 dealers this year setting up beside the pool and selling 1950s furniture and lamps, 1960s and 1970s vintage Danish design, industrial furniture, jewellery and vintage clothes.”

Local dealer Jerry Rossati specialises in 1950s-60s furniture and among the pieces he will be taking to the fair is a 1960s rosewood bureau desk by the Danish designer Erling Torvits priced at £2000.
