A Robert Burns’ song, ‘The Taylor fell thro the bed…’, is featured on the left-hand page, while on the facing page is ‘The Braes of Yarrow’, a well-known Borders ballad.

Also bearing the date 1799 was a 43pp notebook that focused principally on ‘Lectures on the Practice of Surgery’, which made £950, while another notebook, thought to date from the late 18th century, one centred on ‘Plain Astronomy’, sold at £550 on June 26.
