Standing 2ft (61cm) high on its onyx base, the model known as Footsteps was sold by Morgan Strickland Decorative Arts to a private collector.

Around 180 exhibitors were at the fair which ran from July 18-21 at Birmingham’s NEC. MAD Events took over from long-time organisers Clarion Events in April.

New fair director Dan Leyland, who runs the fair with business partner Marisa Beckman, said that he was “delighted” with the sales. He added: “Optimism spread across the fair after day one and our bookings for the winter fair have never been stronger.”

Other sales at the event included a 1960s pendant, Chimes, by Danish designer Hans Hansen, that Harésfur sold for £895; a fine sewing box that Mark Goodger sold for £7250; and a George III chest on chest, c.1770, which went from Mike Melody Antiques for £3800.

The next staging takes place from November 28-December 1.
