More than 150 lots from the contents of a London townhouse in Fitzrovia will be included in an Interiors sale at Dreweatts of Donnington Priory, Newbury, on February 27.

The auction includes sculpture, early 19th century and contemporary furniture, ship models, oriental works of art, silver, ceramics, glassware, tribal art and vintage luggage. Guided at £8000-12,000 is a patinated bronze model of a nude youth by German sculptor Mathieu Molitor (1873-1929).

Conceived during the artist’s stay in Rome in 1907, the model demonstrates the early, more academically inclined output of Molitor’s oeuvre and is possibly derived from the ancient Greek ‘Apoxyomenos’ sculptures, which show nude athletes with their hands in similar attitudes. The piece stands on a faceted cylindrical oak veneered pine pedestal and measures 8ft (2.45m) high overall.

Created in in an architectural style to imitate Nasrid buildings, the interior was inspired by the Sala de los Reyes at the Alhambra Palace in Granada. It features pierced and carved polylobed arches, Moorish star-shaped and geometric wall panels and calligraphic bands.

The sides are carved with the Nasrid dynasty’s motto, while the cabinet also has several secret drawers and compartments in its supporting desk. Estimate £6000-8000.
