Finely painted in blue with a continuous hunting scene and dated to the base 1766, it is illustrated by Lipski and Archer in Dated English Delftware (1984) and sold as part of the Rous Lench Court collection in 1990.

It last appeared for sale as part of the Syd Levethan, Longridge collection sale at Christie’s sale in May 2011, where it sold at £7000. At Bonhams last week it made £14,000 (plus 25% buyer’s premium).

Pelham Olive built up his collection with the advice of two co-founders of the Regional Furniture Society – his father, Wincanton dealer Gabriel Olive, and friend Victor Chinnery.
