Two 10in (26cm) high similar brackets are pictured in Henry Sandon’s factory biography Royal Worcester Porcelain from 1862 to the Present Day. However, this is the only known complete set outside the Dyson Perrins Museum.
Estimated at £1500-2000, the set sold for £12,000 (plus 25% buyer’s premium) at the auction on February 14.
Leading around 400 lots of British applied and decorative arts from c.1860-1960 from the collection and stock of the Cirencester-based dealer was a Gothic revival oak wall cabinet made by Holland & Son to a design by Bruce Talbert. Similar to a cabinet shown by Holland at the Paris International Exhibition of 1867, it took £18,000.
The Fine Art Society at Sotheby’s and Peter Petrou at Christie’s have also dispersed stock at auction this year.
