It was a fine copy, but as these specialists in collectables and memorabilia, along with comic collectors, well know, the UK and US markets are very, very different, and this was a UK copy of the Marvel comic, priced not at 10c on the cover, but at 9d.

The auction record for the original US issue was set at a 2016 Heritage Auctions sale in Dallas, when a near-mint, 9.4 CGC rated copy was sold for $380,000 (then £265,975).

Acquired in 1980 by American collector Walter Yakaboski as part of a $10,000 purchase of a group of early Marvel comics, it had ever since that time resided in a safe deposit box.
