Unfortunately I knocked a bit of horse harness off the wall which crashed onto a table full of crockery with disastrous results.
“Don’t worry,” said Tom Lugg, the excellent general manager there for many years.
“I’ll sweep it all up and put it in the bin where it belongs anyway.”
Phew!
Wonderful instant appraisal by Tom and a lesson learned by me. I doubt I would get off so lightly these days regardless of the value.
