The sale is distinguished by numerous named collections including South African paintings from the Shill collection and the late Sol Munitz collection, both of which feature works by Irma Stern.
Pictured above is her 1947 oil on canvas, The Mauve Sari, from the Sol Munitz collection, which is guided at R13-17m.
The sale also includes the Dr JR and Mary Strong collection featuring Asian works of art and a selection of British silver. It includes a group of late 17th-early 18th century silver casters, among which is this 9in (22cm) high, 850gm Britannia standard example marked for Pierre Harrache, London 1703.
Engraved with a crest and the scratch weight 28-19, it is guided at R15,000-20,000.
