Believed to be the work of the prominent 17th century London cabinet-maker Thomas Pistor, this William & Mary period chest-on-stand is priced at £35,000 from Cambridge dealership John Beazor Antiques.
The combination of woods, the concentration of the design in the arabesque seaweed marquetry panels and the quality of the manufacture, all bear a close resemblance to the work by Pistor found in a pair of stands at Levens Hall in Cumbria and another cabinet, believed to be by Pistor, at Fairfax House in York.
The 3ft 3in x 4ft 3in (99cm x 1.29m) piece dates to c.1690 and comes from a private collection.
