1. Babe Rainbow, part of a series of works depicting fictitious wrestlers by Peter Blake (b.1932), was commissioned in an edition of 1000 by Dodo Designs in 1968, and unusually for the time was printed on tin. This example sold at Salisbury saleroom Woolley & Wallis on October 16.
2. Turning Maze, a 9in (23cm) bronze figure by English sculptor Michael Ayrton (1921- 75), was conceived in 1966 and produced in an edition of nine. This example was acquired from the Grosvenor Gallery in London and sold in a sale of Modern and Contemporary art at Dreweatts’ Donnington Priory saleroom on October 16.
3. A popular painter of horses and dogs, Frances Mabel Hollams (1877-1963) is known best for her technique of painting on wood panel with no background. This typical example inscribed with the horse’s name, Newton Seagull, and signed FM Hollams sold at Taylor & Fletchter in Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire, on October 17.
