Bristol Vintage Photograph Fair is being launched on Sunday, December 1, at the ideal location of the Royal Photographic Society’s headquarters in Bristol.
It is being organised by Hugh Rayner, an antiquarian bookseller based in Bath and a collector of and dealer in vintage photographs, his particular speciality being early photography from India and south-east Asia.
The event takes place in the society’s base in The Paintworks, a complex of studios, galleries and small businesses.
Rayner said: “The idea was to provide a new photograph fair for collectors of early photography living in the west and south-east of England.”
The tagline for the event is Fine Vintage Photography 1840-1990.
The price of photographs on sale will range from a few pounds for relatively common material to fine and rare images selling for several hundreds or thousands of pounds.
Rayner added: “This fair is very much an experiment and will probably only ever be a small specialist event, but if the launch is a success I plan to make it a twice-yearly fair.”
Paris photographs show
Photos Discovery, a vintage photography fair with a focus on 19th and 20th century works, coincides with the Paris Photo show (November 7-10) and will run on Sunday, November 9, at the Pavilion Wagram, 47 Wagram Avenue, 75017, Paris.
