A four-part Russian panel from the 19th century is offered on the website of The Temple Gallery, which specialises in icons and sacred art.

Offered for £3250, the panel features four ‘festival’ scenes. Three are biblical scenes showing the annunciation, nativity and baptism of Christ with the fourth depicting the Old Testament trinity.

Though painted in the 1800s, the style reflects the influence of 17th century Moscow icons, sometimes referred to as the Armoury School. These works are defined by a refined approach to form and ornamentation.

Richard Temple founded the gallery in 1959. It is in Holland Park, London, and holds exhibitions that may be viewed online.
