Launching next week, the dealer-led festival will host its first symposium on December 2, while objects on offer at galleries between December 1-6 include significant pieces from a number of historic collections.

Held in the Sainsbury Wing Theatre of the National Gallery, the winter symposium – titled Conversations on Collecting – aims to attract the international collectors who arrive in London for winter auctions and exhibitions as well as members of the art trade and museum professionals.

Panel discussions will cover topics including the motivations of private collectors and the future of their collections as well as the role of museums in 2020.

The event is free but places must be booked in advance.

Serving as a major showcase of the capital’s dealer galleries, London Art Week features many exceptional objects for buyers to choose from. For our pick of the highlights see Dealers' Diary.
