For the first time the auction house will list and offer live bidding on the majority of its UK and international sales on thesaleroom.com’s site.

The initial set of auctions to be listed are Bonhams’ Islamic and Indian Art and Modern and Contemporary Middle Eastern Art sales, which are being held on October 22 and 23 respectively at its New Bond Street headquarters.

Online strategy

After this launch, Bonhams will then offer live bidding on the majority of its sales in London, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Hong Kong on thesaleroom.com.

Executive chairman of Bonhams Bruno Vinciguerra said his firm is “excited by what thesaleroom.com’s reach and presence can do to further our online sales strategy. It has an unrivalled bidder base in the UK and internationally and a proven ability to generate new bidders for auctioneers, particularly early on in the buying journey.”

John-Paul Savant, CEO of Auction Technology Group, which also owns Antiques Trade Gazette, said: “We look forward to working with Bonhams to support the growth of their online sales and open up their auctions to a yet wider audience of bidders and buyers.”

Bonhams will also list its sales on other sites which include Auction Technology Group’s lot-tissimo.com.
