1. Doris Clare Zinkeisen (1898-1991) is best known for her work in theatrical design but she also became a popular portraitist and society painter. Combining both her theatrical and painterly skills, this painting from the short ballet Les Sylphides sold at Cheffins in Cambridge on September 11.
2. With a strong connection to the coastal towns of Concarneau and Douarnenez in Brittany and Deauville in Normandy, Carl Moser (1873-1939) focused on village scenes, fishermen and Breton women. This depiction of a Breton woman sold with two other Moser woodcuts at Gorringe’s in Lewes on September 30.
3. This signed Francis Bacon (1909-92) lithograph belongs to a group he made in the 1950s of lone human figures crouching naked and isolated. The original oil sold at Christie’s in 2011 for $9.6m (with fee). This 2ft 2in x 2ft 11in (67 x 88cm) framed lithograph with provenance to John Edwards, the principal beneficiary of the Bacon Estate, took £2200 at Chalkwell Auctions on September 26.
