The Doog later joined Wolves (in 1967) when many thought his best days were behind him. However, he had seven fine seasons with the club.
He helped clinch promotion from the Second Division, took them to the 1972 UEFA Cup final and won his only major trophy when Wolves beat Manchester City in the 1974 League Cup final.

Medals, trophies – who needs them? A classic British way to celebrate sporting success is surely to make a cup of tea. In the first half of the 20th century teapots were regularly made to commemorate FA Cup winners.
The example shown above with a player for the handle, a trophy finial and a whistle spout is thought to have been made for Wolves, who won the cup for the third time in 1949.
It was offered at local saleroom Cuttlestones (17.5% buyer’s premium) on July 5 with an estimate of £80-120 and sold at £320.
Also featuring in that sale was a large collection of Wolves memorabilia from the late 1920s-30s, including many black and white photographs and postcards of team members (one from 1923-24 also shown above). The group sold for £1200 against an estimate of £500-800.
