Centred around the longstanding Salon du Dessin (March 25-30), a raft of auctions is held dedicated to drawings and works on paper across the capital as well as museum exhibitions and selling shows.

Christie’s Paris has already announced early details of its two works on paper sales, with Old Master and 19th century drawings to be staged on March 25 and modern works on paper on the 26th.

The Tiepolo dynasty features prominently in the Old Masters sale with a brown wash drawing of the holy family by Giovanni Battista on offer at €50,000-70,000 and this market-fresh work by his son Giovanni Domenico from his Punchinello series.

Punchinello with children and a horse re-emerges on the market with a provenance to the collection of commandant Paul-Louis Weiller (1893-1993). The 14 x 18in (35 x 47cm) signed drawing in pencil, brown ink and wash has an estimate of €200,000-300,000.
