Pam always had a great enthusiasm and passion for the Arts & Crafts movement. After a career as a teacher and later headmistress she took early retirement and, with her late husband Merfyn, built up a successful business trading in arts and craft pottery, metal ware and tiles.
Enthusiastic following
They soon found an enthusiastic following standing at the NEC, the tile fair in Nottingham and other major fairs. After Merfyn passed away Pam carried on with the business.
She was well thought of by other dealers and her many customers, always ready to share her deep well of knowledge with all. I will always remember when I stood opposite her at the NEC. Her stand was surrounded by customers fighting to buy her tiles and metal ware. She managed to satisfy every one. I don’t know how she did it.
Over the last few years Pam became quite frail and I would pop in to see her on the way back from the Kempton fair.
As soon as I had sat down with a cup of tea and some toast, she would ask me what I had bought and if I knew what treasures others had found. She never lost her enthusiasm for her beloved Arts & Crafts.
I know that she will be sorely missed by all those who came to know her through the years.
The funeral is at Kingston Crematorium on February 19 at 1.40pm. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society.
