1. This undated Keith Vaughan (1912- 77) pencil drawing, 10½ x 7½in (27 x 19cm), sold at Mallams in Oxford for over double its top guide on December 5. It had provenance to the Redfern Gallery in London, where the Selsey-born painter exhibited on several occasions, and was signed with a studio stamp.

2. This 22in x 2ft 8in (56 x 81cm) Eric Ravilious (1903-42) autolithograph of Newhaven harbour and lighthouse in East Sussex, unsigned and a little faded, was offered at Bonhams’ Prints and Multiples sale in London on December 18. It was the first produced in the Contemporary Lithographs series.

3. In original condition having been stored in a dusty barn, this 11½ x 16in (29 x 40cm) oil on board was taken to four times its top guide at Nottingham saleroom Mellors & Kirk on November 27-28. The Chequered Table Cloth was painted by Jewish writer and artist Fred Uhlman (1901-85) and bears an old label for The Zwemmer Gallery in London where he exhibited from the late 1930s after fleeing Nazi Germany.
