The Lloyds Bank Corporate collection features a diverse range of pictures by British, European and American artists, with an emphasis on northern British, Scottish and Irish painters. They were acquired from artists and consultants in the 1980s-90s as office decoration and were previously displayed at the Lloyds Bank head office in Chester. Refurbishment and a change to the corporate image has brought about the sale.

“It is very exciting to handle such a large single collection of paintings, especially one with such variety both in terms of subjects and style,” said Abigail Molenaar of Halls’ fine art team.

“It is one of the largest single-owner collections of paintings that we have ever had, and it covers such a huge variety of subjects from watercolours of ancient stone circles in the Scottish Highlands, to the races at Henley on Thames, and the Palace of Versailles. It’s a great opportunity to buy listed, named artists for very accessible starting prices.”

The Lloyds paintings and the other lots in the sale can be viewed at the Halls saleroom between January 19-22.
