Walter Thomas’s c.1947 colour offset lithograph, advertising Cunard White Star’s Fastest Ocean Service in the World, is estimated at €200-300.
In the wake of the Great Depression and the first non-stop transatlantic passenger flights, Cunard merged with its competitor White Star in 1934, in order to receive loan guarantees from the British government. A year later the Queen Mary was launched, followed by its sister Queen Elizabeth in 1938.
Both vessels are pictured on this poster.
