A 1583 first of Georg Bartisch’s 'Opthalmodouleia…', a famous work on eye surgery. It is estimated at €30,000 at Reiss & Sohn of Königstein-im-Taunus on October 27-30.
In a slightly later vellum binding, this copy has calligraphic replacements for a couple of text leaves, but all the coloured woodcut illustrations – some of which feature early examples of the use of moveable flaps – are present.
