This year’s ‘Islamic Week’, running from October 22-31, offers a wide range of art and artefacts celebrating the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the Middle East and the sub-continent.
It features designated sales from a range of auction houses plus a dedicated dealer focus via a new-format Asian Art in London (AAL).
For the first time this year, the long-running event splits in two.
AAL’s Indian and Islamic art event will run from October 22-31, with late-night viewings includingn St James’s on October 25 followed by east Asian art from October 29-November 7. Some dealers will be part of both elements.
Dealers’ exhibitions can be visited in person with Covid-19 procedures in place.
AAL director Jacqueline Simcox says the new format allows a “specific focus on Indian & Islamic art, which had been less well represented among the dealers in recent years”.
She adds: “By holding two series of exhibitions and auctions, almost sequentially, it has also enabled more dealers to hire venues to show their works of art in central London, alongside the permanent galleries.”
