In 1895 his factory had around 250 employees making mainly optical toys and magic lanterns, but also high-quality clockwork and live-steam toys.

The 4-4-0 Black Prince finished in black with red, yellow and grey lining probably dates from c.1905 when Schöenner was building both Gauge II (75mm) and Gauge III (85mm) models, many of them made for export to the US.

At Tennants’ (20% buyer’s premium) Toys, Models & Collectables sale on August 5 it led proceedings with a mid-estimate £3500.
