Nicki and Ralph Retallack own an antiques shop in Falmouth and last year launched a two-day antiques and decorative fair at nearby Enys House.
They were so delighted with the result that the second Enys House Antiques & Decorative Fair will run again this year on Saturday and Sunday, September 26-27.
Ralph said: “We had an excellent response from dealers and the public alike with 1100 people through the door over the two days.
“Many people were visiting Enys House for the first time and were captured by the old grandeur of the place.
“The fair is unusual as it incorporates the bare decor of an English country house providing a wonderful backdrop for dealers’ pieces – bare plaster walls and floorboards, exposed stonework, tall shuttered windows, oak library shelves with the roof lantern flooding the atrium and sweeping staircase.”
In response to Covid-19 and “managing the fair responsibly”, this year “we will be making more use of the outside spaces around the stables and walled garden and only using the ground floor of the house”.
Dealers at the fair include the well-known furniture and decoratives dealer John Read-Smith, as well as Jenny Fry and Michael Thomas with bijouterie and Rob Young with Oriental pieces.
