Tiles are among this year’s top interior trends and as the new organiser of the annual Nottingham Tile Fair, Nick Walker is on a mission to bring the event to a much wider audience.

Standholder numbers at this niche annual fair selling antique and vintage tiles, which is run under the aegis of the Tile and Architectural Ceramics Society (TACS), have dwindled down the years to around 10.

These include Mark Graham of Pugin Tiles, Anita and James from The Hive in Cambridge, Adrian Gater, who specialises in British decorative tiles from 1870-1970, Andrew Brooks of Red Dragon Tiles, the specialist publisher Richard Dennis and Mark van Veen from the Netherlands.

A tile dealer himself, Walker said: “I’ll be doing plenty of social media work to include lots of hashtags of designers and trying to attract more dealers from the people I see on Instagram and Etsy. I’m planning a small exhibition at the fair by Rob Higgins, the TACS treasurer, co-author of Arts and Crafts Tiles with Will Farmer of Fieldings Auctioneers.”

The fair runs on Saturday, October 1, at St Jude’s Hall, Mapperley, Nottingham. Contact Nick Walker on 07843 203747 or dialnfornick@yahoo.co.uk
