The addition of a top floor to the out-of-town offices in Old Sarum (where many staff are now based) has created a display area more than three times the size of the existing saleroom in the city centre.

“It had become apparent that the space for viewing at Castle Street was increasingly inadequate for the size and scope of the auctions that we are now having,” said chairman John Axford.

“This new viewing area will enable us to display larger sales more attractively and in a more accessible fashion for our clients.”

The auctions themselves will continue to be held at the main saleroom in Castle Street and certain auctions will continue to be viewed there as well, including those of jewellery, silver and objects of vertu and Asian art.

The English and European Ceramics and Glass auction on April 26-27 and the African and Oceanic Art auction on April 28 will both be on view at the new gallery.
