“Our June fair is our Wimbledon warm-up so we will be serving Pimms and homemade strawberry shortbreads”, says Philip Crosthwaite, organiser of Easton Antiques Fair.

The next of his monthly fairs takes place on Sunday, June 26. Crosthwaite and his wife Claire relocated the long-established event from Hingham in mid-Norfolk in 2021 to Easton College in Norwich to enable the fair to expand.

Positive trends

He said: “We’re eight months in to our change of venue and this has had its challenges as it was like starting a new fair. The good news is that we are averaging 100 new customers to each fair on top of our regulars.”

Keeping the marketing spinning, the Crosthwaites offer meal vouchers for a local pub which they give away every month and have a marketing/ social media person “who is keeping us current in difficult times” as well as sending out a monthly newsletter to all their fairgoers detailing featured items.

They are receiving good feedback from these with some dealers selling the featured pieces. Crosthwaite added: “Maybe this is all a good way to reach people. Fairs have to be a whole package to get people through the door.”
