This comprised a mix of fine art and examples of design by some of the key names of the period such as Ettore Sottsass and Philippe Starck.

The top lot was an untitled work by the American graffiti artist and illustrator Futura 2000 (Leonard McGurr b.1955). The 4ft x 8ft 6in (2.6 x1m) spray painting on canvas from 1983, which was signed in the composition and signed and dated on the reverse, realised €220,000 (£191,305) against a guide of €70,000-100,000.

It was followed at €180,000 (£156,520) by a 1982 work from the American artist and illustrator Patrick Nagel (1945-84) estimated at €80,000-120,000. San stitre (noble 1982) depicted one of the artist’s signature highly stylised portraits of women executed using flat planes of bright colours.

The 3ft 3in x 2ft 6in (1m x 76.5cm) work in acrylic on canvas laid on panel had a provenance to a California collection, then a sale at Bruun Rasmussen in Copenhagen in 2011 where it was acquired by the vendor.
