The new book by Christopher Joll and Penny Cobham, Bonfire of History The lost treasures, trophies & trivia of Madame Tussaud & Sons.

Christopher Joll, regimental historian of the Household Cavalry and adviser on militaria to auction houses Cheffins and Sworders, and Penny Cobham, trustee of the British Napoléonic Bicentenary Trust and the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, have written a book about the fire that destroyed Madame Tussaud’s in 1925.

According to Joll, the book “ascribes a current day value to the losses, exposes some fakes and corrects some myths”.

Bonfire of History The lost treasures, trophies & trivia of Madame Tussaud & Sons is out in November, published by Nine Elms Books.
