UK Heritage specialises in antiques and reclamation including anything from antique fireplace surrounds to wrought-iron gates and garden statuary. At the moment, it has on offer a particularly large piece which came to the firm from one of its contacts in the demolition business.
Offered for £78,750, it is a complete Victorian stained glass window, 1889, in its original carved sandstone window frame, reclaimed from a church in Upton, Wirral. It is catalogued as being in good structural condition, 15ft 10in x 12ft 10in (4.85 x 3.9m) high, and the stained glass has been professionally rebuilt and set into temporary frames for transport.
Though unsigned, it its attributed to Shrigley & Hunt. Founded in the 1750s, the company had showrooms in Lancaster and London and ran until the 1980s.
