Harrogate: The Northern Antiques Fair

The Northern Antiques Fair is billed as one of the north’s most prestigious events. Held every year in association with the British Antiques Dealers’ Association, it is an ideal place to come across some prime pieces of art, antiques and collectables offered by 45 of the UK’s leading dealers.

Rountree Tryon, for example, offers an oil on canvas painting of a dog by Sir Edwin Landseer priced at £65,000. Other highlights include tea caddies at the stand of Mark Goodger, glass from Mark J West and a selection of ancient ceramics from Odyssey Antiquities & Coins.

Next Friday, Tennants Auctioneers offers this 19th century German antler armchair as part of its Natural History & Taxidermy sale. The chair, which is estimated at £1000-1500 is one of several highlights including a taxidermy little spotted kiwi and a western ground parrot specimen.

Sheffield: Sheffield Auction Gallery

Sheffield Auction Gallery holds a number of regular specialist sales including bi-monthly collectable toy auctions. These offer anything from Steiff teddy bears and Pelham Puppets to Airfix and Meccano.

Chester: The Arley Hall Fair

The Arley Hall Fair is typical of the Galloway Antiques Fair series: a quality, datelined antiques fair staged at an elegant location. In this case, around 50 dealers stand offering anything from oriental rugs to angling antiques and a selection of fine antique furniture.

At this edition, keep an eye out for a pair of rare Minton majolica vases in the form of a hen and a rooster from Madelena, a walnut bureau from Malcolm Eglin Antiques and a stylish Patek Philippe from Scarab Antiques.

Mid-century furniture, retro lighting, vintage textiles: it’s all ripe for the picking at the next instalment of The Vintage Home Show in Leeds. One of the many events staged annually by Discover Vintage, this is a chance to find iconic items from the 1930s-70s, offered 45 dealers.

This is the third year the fair has taken place at this particular location. Check out some of the Ercol furniture brought by local dealer Living Vintage.
