Bonhams has appointed William Threlfall to the role of specialist in charge of the modern sporting guns department in Knightsbridge. The next sale devoted to Modern Sporting Guns and Firearms will be held on November 28. The closing date for entry is October 11.
Halls
Jeremy Lamond.
As reported on September 6, Jeremy Lamond is leaving Halls at Christmas after 23 years at the firm. He decided to resign from the Shropshire auction house to relocate from Shrewsbury to south-west England with his wife Jessica, who is a professor at the University of the West of England (UWE) in Bristol.
He said: “It is an unusual move for someone but this is a carpe diem moment. I will resurface in the new year but I am certainly not leaving the world of fine art, antiques or auctioneering. I hope to remain on the SOFAA national committee.”
Tate Ward

Auction house Tate Ward, which launched in the spring, has hired more staff and plans further sales this autumn.
The firm was set up by specialists previously at Christie’s, Bonhams, Fellows and Chiswick Auctions.
One recent recruit is Francesca Garvey-Hughes, previously at Fellows, who has joined as head of its jewellery and watches department. She will hold the first jewellery and watch auction on December 11 with the deadline for entries on November 11.
The firm, led by managing director Nigel Shorthouse, operates from offices in east London and hires space in The Old Truman Brewery, near Brick Lane, to host its auctions.
Specialist Peter Mansell oversees its wine auction and urban and Contemporary art auctions are overseen by Danny Herbert and Harry Brian Parkinson.
Morphy Auctions
Kelly Kinzle.
Americana and folk art dealer Kelly Kinzle is joining Morphy Auctions to head its new Americana, Folk Art & American Decorative Arts division.
Kinzle runs his antiques business in New Oxford, Pennsylvania.
He said: “Over the past 15 years, I’ve become even more focused on Americana. When Dan Morphy approached me and asked if I would fine-tune the American decorative arts part of his business… we both decided it would work out very well.”
Kinzle’s first project at Morphy is the curation and cataloging of The Susquehanna Collection, a sale sourced in Pennsylvania’s Susquehanna region. The core of the collection originally belonged to Joe Kindig Jr and passed by descent through the Kindig family before being acquired by the consignor.
McTear’s
A Rolex sale will be launched by McTear’s in Glasgow on September 24. The sale will include vintage and newer versions and has been set up by Sarah Fergusson, the head of the firm’s jewellery, watches and coins department.
