A modern British art collection will form the centrepiece of Woolley & Wallis’ Modern British & 20th Century Art auction on June 7 in Salisbury.

The collection was assembled by Keith Allison (1925-2016) and includes paintings by Keith Vaughan, John Minton, Christopher Wood and John and Paul Nash.

An avid collector, Allison bought many of his pictures in the 1970s and ‘80s when he was working as a solicitor in London.

Among the stars is Tropical Fruits, a signed 1951 oil on canvas by John Minton (1917-57). The 3ft 4in x 4ft 2in (1.01 x 1.27m) work comes from the body of canvases inspired by the island life of Jamaica and are among the most sought-after in the artist’s oeuvre.

Estimate £40,000-60,000.
