This Stuart crystal memento mori slide will be included in Dreweatts’ sale of jewellery, watches and silver at Donnington Priory in Newbury on February 14.
The piece, which is dated 1686, is enamelled with a skull and crossbone detail on woven hair work, above the words JoRn Fion and the initials JCM.

Cheffins’ Library Sale on February 21 in Cambridge will feature an album containing letters from nurses Edith Cavell (1865-1915) and Florence Nightingale (1820-1910).
The correspondence is addressed to Edmund Boulnois (1838-1911), an MP for Marylebone East and the first mayor of Marylebone, thanking him for his help in setting up a nurses training home at the Marylebone Infirmary.
The letter from Cavell was sent from Ecole Belge d’Infirmières Diplômées (or The Berkendael Medical Institute), a pioneering hospital set up in 1907 and based in Brussels. It was also where Cavell would later hide 200 Allied men, the reason she was sentenced to death by the Germans in 1915.
The letters are estimated at £1000-1200.
The 1925 Gebruder Sussenguth ‘Peter’ teddy bear was not a commercial success. Made by the Sussenguth Brothers in East Germany with a protruding tongue and bared teeth, the bear proved too frightening for small children.
However, they proved a success on the secondary market in 1974 when a small stockpile was discovered in a former factory in East Germany.
This well-preserved example will be offered at Tennants of Leyburn on February 10, estimated at £1500-1800.

This mid-19th century panel, possibly made from pine, originates from Buxted Park, a Grade II-listed Georgian mansion in East Sussex.
The large 4ft 1in x 6ft 11in (1.24 x 2.1m) piece had hung in the Orangery (below) until 15 years ago and features three men forging armour.
Watsons Auctioneers in Heathfield has guided it at £1200-1500 in its February 22 sale.
