Thirty lots in the upcoming anniversary sale come from a north German collection of 17th and 18th century glasses.

Among the notable engraved pieces is this six-sided goblet, decorated with a view of a castle on the central reserve and a procession of cherubs playing musical instruments on the other sides.

The decoration is attributed to the renowned engraver Christian Gottfried Schneider (1710-73) who lived and worked in the Lower Silesian (now Polish) town of Warmbrunn (Cieplice).

The town had been a spa since the 13th century, providing glass manufacturers with plenty of customers. Dr Fischer is hoping for the same on October 19, when the goblet is expected to bring €3500-4000.
